TuiShou or push hands is
an amazing and often misunderstood practice. TuiShou takes the essence
of ones personal, martial art or QiGong practice and
brings it to an arena where you are interacting with another conscious, aware and creative person who may or
may not share your plans for the encounter. By practicing push hands you discover how much you are able to
harmonize within your self and your surroundings and discover a whole new level of harmonizing with another
aware and creative person.
TuiShou is where subtlety
in QiGong and martial
arts is developed and is a great mirroring of what it means to take ones internal practices out into the
world with other people who have their own minds, desires and issues. TuiShou is the highest
level of practice but that should not discourage beginners to QiGong and internal
martial arts from exploring. I can say that neither my Master nor I would have the skill we do without
TuiShou.
TuiShou is also an
immensely rewarding and enjoyable practice that is worth the time and effort it takes to understand
it.
